Is Stopping Dieting Giving up on Your Health?

Is Stopping Dieting Giving up on Your Health?

Hi, it’s Victoria here from Fierce fatty. And in this video I’m
answering the question, am I giving up on my health
if I stopped dieting? Before we start this video, make sure that you check out the links
below because I have a download that goes along with this video. It’s called the diet
bullshit decoder book. So get your hands on it by
checking out the links below. And if you like this video, make sure
that, do you tell me, leave a comment, send me a message, subscribe to me
on YouTube. Give me a like all no, those things. So you thinking
about stopping dieting, but you’re worried because what
if it fucks up your health? So this is a really common
fear and a really common worry, and I have been there. So don’t feel
bad if you’re feeling like that. It’s totally normal. So you’ve been dieting and you know
that diets don’t actually work for you. They fail time and time and time again. But what if you stop when you become
unhealthy? If you want to become healthy, then you shouldn’t stop
dieting. Right? Right, right. So let’s think of the
facts. What do we know about diets? Well, 95 to 99 a hundred percent of diets fail. 90% of people who go on a
diet and the end of the diet, they’re the same weight. Two thirds of people who go on a diet
will actually weigh more at the end of the diet. One third of people will develop
disordered eating patterns or a full flown eating disorder after being on
a diet. Your more unhealthy. If you go on a diet, then if you’ve
never been on a diet and you’re fat, the negative consequences of going on
a diet include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, depression, cardiovascular disease, all the things that diets tell us that
they prevent because they stop you from being fat. But being fat doesn’t mean that you are
unhealthy and you’re going to get sick. And let’s talk about what success on a
diet actually mean. So when people say, as you know, between five and no point, not 8% of people are successful on a diet. What success means is that they are
able to lose 5% of their body weight and keep it off for five years or more. So what that looks like is if a
350 pound person lost 17.5 pounds, they would be the best success story
ever because that is what is cost as success on a diet. So many
studies show that yoyo dieting, which is going on a diet, then stop
paying. They’re going on a diet, which is what diets are designed to
do. They’re designed to make you fail, show that it leads to you being more in
how he then, if you never dieted at all, get this. There is not one single study in the
history of the world that shows that dieting works. Not one. So I’m in a nutshell, dieting damages
your physical health, your mental health, they don’t work, they make you
fatter, they don’t make you healthy. And body satisfaction has been linked
to overall better health outcomes and better emotional health.
So by stopping dieting, you’re actually embracing health. You are not doing the
opposite. Doing the opposite. Being unhealthy would
be continuing on diets, but of course you don’t have to
be healthy if you don’t want to. You are not a morally superior or inferior
person if you decide to pursue health or not. So if you’re quote
unquote giving up on dieting, you’re actually giving up on
an unsustainable, unhealthy, and broken way of living. And you’re not really giving up on
anything as whole because giving up sounds like you failed, right?
You haven’t failed. Diets have failed you. If you want to get deeper into this stuff, then check out the links below where I
