many people know about external beam radiation where you're shining radiation on an individual tumor this basically brings the radiation to each individual cancer cell but the amazing part about the type of medical isotope we use is it only travels one to two cells that means it destroys those cells and doesn't damage any tissue around it so very precision based cancer killing therapy we are very fortunate to be able to get a National Center of Excellence which focused on moving things out of the lab into the clinic and into new companies that ultimately led to fusion pharmaceuticals which then attracted international investment to be able to commercialize these new cancer therapeutics the investment into fusion itself is actually designed to build a leading international pharmaceutical company which means not only are we doing trials in Canada and growing out we're doing it within the US and Europe and Asia and growing from a base in Hamilton to being that sort of international pharmaceutical company one of the big things that attracted us to sort of set an anchor in Hamilton is we have and have had leading nuclear sciences and medicine research in Hamilton for years but we also have some of the world's leading clinical and oncology research programs and so now you can bring in the cutting-edge of nuclear medicine with the cutting-edge of cancer care all in one local area and so I think now what will happen is there are a lot of really exciting young biotech companies in Hamilton that are just starting and we think that with the investment in fusion people will start to look at those new biotech companies and look for new opportunities to bring more investment locally
